Ad Design is how I started my graphic design career. I worked as an intern at Green Living Magazine in Scottsdale. I made ads for both the magazine and for their clients.
I’ve made ads for both print and digital media. For print material I’ve made eighth page, quarter page, half page, and full page ads. For digital formats, horizontal and vertical ads of varying sizes. These advertisements were made with InDesign to arrange the various elements. I also used Photoshop to modify specific photos for the ads.
I find that ad design is similar to putting a puzzle together. Sometimes you have many elements to put on the board and sometimes you have just a few. What is the best way to organize these parts? How can you save on space? Is there enough negative space for everything to breath? Is this easy to read or do I have to experiment with font choices? How does color affect how this information is presented? All of these are questions I ask when I am designing ads or working on any text heavy project.
